To use Instagram Shopping, your Instagram account and business must fulfill the following requirements:

  • Comply with our merchant agreement and commerce policies. Your business must comply with our merchant agreement and commerce policies.

  • Have an Instagram business account. Your Instagram account must be converted into a business account.

  • Have a connected Facebook Page. Your Instagram business profile must be connected to a Facebook Page. Please note that country or age restrictions on your Facebook Page will not carry over to your Instagram account.

  • Primarily sell physical goods. Your Instagram account must be a business that primarily sells physical goods. 

  • Have your business account connected to a Facebook Catalog. Your business account must be connected to a Facebook catalog. This can be created and managed on Catalog Manager or Business Manager on Facebook or through Shopify or BigCommerce platforms. Ensure that the catalog is owned by the brand under its business manager.

Once you fulfill the above requirements, the Account Manager should reach out to the Facebook team on Business Chat and submit for approval by providing Instagram account ID, URL, and Ad account ID. The Facebook team will review the account and update us over mail.

You can complete set-up in Shopping in Settings to start tagging products in your posts and stories. You can visit Shopping in Settings at any time to check your review status.

How to enable shopping options on Instagram?

  • Your account must be approved for Instagram Shopping to feature products in posts and stories.

  • Make sure you have the latest version of the Instagram app.

  • You should already have completed set up for shopping on Instagram before you can enable it from your Instagram App.

Turn on Instagram Shopping in the Instagram App

To enable the ability to feature products from the Instagram App:

  1. Go to your profile on mobile view and tap on the menu icon in the top right

  2. Tap Settings

  3. Tap Business.

  4. Tap Shopping. Note: The option to tap Shopping is only available to accounts that have been approved for Instagram Shopping.

  5. Tap Continue

  6. Select a product catalog to connect to your professional account.

  7. Tap Done.

If you don't see Shopping, your account is probably still under review or it hasn't been approved for Instagram Shopping. The review process can take up to a few days, but sometimes we may need to review the account in more detail, which can take longer.
